Introduction to Experimental High Energy Physics (Summer 2022)

In the summer of 2022 (after my second year), I worked on a project under the mentorship of Prof. Sourabh Dube. The project was structured to give an overview of what research in experimental high-energy physics looks like.

I studied the fundamentals of Standard Model particles, the Feynman diagrams and rules, etc.using standard introductory pedagogical sources; as also the basics of detector phyics, especially the ones involved in the CMS and ATLAS experiment. Using data obtained at CMS for a particular search, and I analyzed and interpreted the underlying Drell-Yan process using conventional EHEP analysis techniques (and in the process, learned how to use ROOT!).

The project report along with this documents the last (analysis) part of the project, albeit very briefly.
